This summer, Distillerie de l'Arbre Sec, an artisanal distillery located in the heart of Paris, unveils La Lune, its new French craft gin, released as a limited edition of just 700 bottles. Inspired by The Moon, the Major Arcana of the Tarot de Marseille representing intuition, cycles, and the ever-changing forces of nature, this seasonal creation brings together Mediterranean citrus fruits, aromatic herbs, and Breton seaweed in an original and elegant expression.
Following La Force, the distillery's winter gin built around warmth and intensity, La Lune opens a new chapter in its seasonal collection. Fresher, brighter, and unmistakably maritime, this limited edition captures the spirit of long summer evenings, ocean breezes, and the sunlit landscapes of the Mediterranean.
At the heart of the recipe, Menton lemon and citron zest bring vibrant freshness and delicate bitterness. Breton wakame and kombu seaweed extend this brightness with subtle saline and iodine notes, adding remarkable depth and length to the palate.
Fennel, expressed through both its wild seeds and fresh bulb, creates a natural bridge between the seaweed's marine character and the lively citrus notes. Finally, Provençal rosemary structures the finish with resinous aromas reminiscent of Southern France's coastal landscapes.
The result is a refined and perfectly balanced French premium gin. Fresh juniper remains at the forefront, complemented by the delicate aniseed character of fennel before unfolding into a lingering, gently saline finish that defines the unique personality of La Lune.
Nose: Delicate and elegant, with fresh juniper, subtle aniseed notes from fennel, and a gentle hint of the sea.
Palate: Fresh and harmonious. A smooth opening gradually reveals the vegetal character of fennel, supported by delicate iodine and lightly saline notes.
Finish: Long, saline, and lingering.
Like all the distillery's creations, La Lune is crafted exclusively from carefully selected botanicals chosen for their quality, origin, and seasonality. This artisanal approach prioritizes balance, aromatic precision, and respect for each ingredient over unnecessary complexity.
This limited edition also marks a new collaboration with Albane Simon, a French illustrator and collage artist. Drawing inspiration from surrealism, architecture, and spirituality, she has created a label where the symbols of The Moon tarot card intertwine with the botanicals that define the gin.
Citrus fruits, seaweed, and marine elements come together in a dreamlike composition that extends the tasting experience beyond the glass, transforming the bottle into a visual invitation to explore the world of La Lune.
